Ambassador Vahram Kazhoyan’s participation in the official ceremony dedicated to 78th Anniversary of the Great Patriotic War, 48th Anniversary of liberation of South Vietnam and country’s reunification, and 69th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu battle Victory

Vahram Kazhoyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, participated in the official ceremony dedicated to the 78th Anniversary of the Great Patriotic War (World War II), the 48th Anniversary of the liberation of South Vietnam and the reunification of the country and the 69th Anniversary of the Victory in the Dien Bien Phu battle, jointly organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the State Commission for the Management of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Major General Bui Hai Shon, Acting Chairman of the State Committee of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on the Management of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Gennady Bezdetko, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Vahram Kazhoyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Vladimir Borovikov, Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Yerlan Baizhanov, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam addressed the participants and guests with speeches.

Ambassador Vahram Kazhoyan congratulated the participants with commemorative dates, and mentioned that these dates are traditionally celebrated in the countries of the former USSR and Vietnam. Ambassador Kazhoyan mentioned that 700,000 Armenians from Armenia participated in the Great Patriotic War, of which 350,000 did not return to their homes, adding that during the war, Armenia had 102 heroes of the USSR, including such famous military leaders, such as Marshal Baghramyan, Marshal of the Armored Forces Babajanyan, Marshal of Aviation Khudyakov-Khanperyants and Navy Admiral Isakov.

Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia also emphasized the liberation of South Vietnam in 1975 and the reunification of the country, quoting the words of the first president of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh, "There is nothing more important than independence and freedom", which are still relevant for the Armenian people today. Ambassador Kazhoyan also referred to Armenia-Vietnam relations, highlighting the visit of President Ho Chi Minh to Armenia on July 21-23, 1959.

The ambassadors and diplomats of the participating embassies and other distinguished guests participated in the wreath-laying ceremony at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, after which they visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to pay their respects.

Afterwards, the ambassadors visited the Monument to the Fallen Heroes of Vietnam, where they also laid wreaths in memory of the bravery of the martyred heroes of the Great Patriotic War, the liberation of South Vietnam and the Dien Bien Phu battle.

Aramazd Muradyan, Second Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia, was present at the official ceremonies.
